Dr. Ibrahima Socé Fall is a world known leader in global health, specializing in infectious disease epidemiology, health emergencies, health systems strengthening, capacity building, and international development. He took office on July 1 as CEO of the Pasteur Institute in Dakar after having held very senior positions at the WHO in Africa and at headquarters in Geneva, including as Assistant Director-General in charge of the response to health emergencies around the world.

With more than 30 years of experience in medical practice and public health at the community and global levels, Dr. Fall has led several life-saving reforms and innovations in global public health.

Dr. Fall has trained in Senegal, Europe, and the United States of America. He trained as a military doctor at the Ecole militaire de Santé de Dakar and subsequently obtained a Doctor of Medicine, a Master of Public Health (MPH), a Doctor of Public Health (Ph.D with dual option in Epidemiology and Global Health), a Master of Science (MSc) in International Development, and a Graduate Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Epidemiology among others. Fall is also a professor at the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Medicine of Great Britain where he has been admitted by distinction in London, Glasgow and Edinburgh. He edited and published more than 500 articles in the WHO weekly bulletin on disease outbreaks and emergencies in the African Region and more than 200 articles in high-ranking international medical journals and book chapters.
